LaserCube-X Remote Graphics Engine
LaserCube-X provides the optimum operator environment, saving valuable desktop space and providing a quiet, highly secure thick client solution.
Until now, in order to deliver graphics intensive output, the noisy, hot, unserviceable computers have had to be near the operators. By using LaserCube-X graphics engines, that’s no longer true!
LaserCube-X 3D graphics-engines containing high resolution PCIe graphics adapter(s), USB 2.0 ports and sound are placed near the operators. That’s all! The only devices near the operators are the graphics engines and peripherals needed to display the application programs to the operators.
LaserBlades that are rack mounted far from the operators (up to 1000 feet away) contain Core 2 Duo/Quad or Xeon processors, hard drive(s), network connections and memory that run the applications.
Connecting the LaserCube-X to the LaserBlade is fiber optic cabling that carry PCIe bus control signals. No software, no encryption and no video compression are needed.
LaserBlades run standard Windows and Linux operating systems in standard PC mode with complete application compatibility without modification – if the applications run on a standard PC, they will run on a LaserBlade.
Data is completely secure. Hard drive storage in the LaserBlades reside in your locked data center where the computer elements can be centralized for better management. Tamper-proof, snoop-proof fiber optic cabling connects the LaserCube to the LaserBlade. Only PCIe bus control signals traverse the connection. Cubix’s architecture is JWICs certified as completely secure.

LaserCube-X Technical Overview
• LaserCube-X supports two 16X PCIe graphics adapters plus a USB adapter plus an adapter for sound. The maximum number of displays supported per LaserCube-X is 8.
• LaserCube-X has a power supply within to handle PCIe graphics adapter power requirements.
• To ensure maximum video throughput, Cubix has separated the PCIe graphics adapter channels from the other devices such as sound, USB, etc. One fiber channel handles the PCI devices and up to four fiber channels support the PCIe video adapters.
• The PCIe channels for the video support can be 1, 2, or 4 fiber pairs. The raw throughput is 5 Gbps per channel, 10Gbps or 20 Gbps respectively.
• The operating environment will determine the number of channels that will be needed. If more bandwidth is needed to support the graphics environment, add more channels for the video throughput.
• In the vast majority of office environments, one video channel will be more than sufficient. In heavy graphics environments such as CAD/global mapping, etc, more channels can be added to increase throughput.
