Both the PC-over-IP host adapter and the graphics controller mount in the GPU-Xpander IP unit, which in turn mounts in a 4U enclosure that supports five such GPU-Xpander IP units. Each GPU-Xpander IP connects to any host computer with a free PCI Express (PCIe) 1x slot. You don't need to install workstation graphics in the host because it's already installed in GPU-Xpander IP!

Connect the PC-over-IP client on an operator’s desktop via Ethernet to the PC-over-IP adapter in GPU-Xpander IP, where the operator has access to a 3D graphics controller such as an NVidia Quadro FX 3800, 4800 or 5800. Connect GPU-Xpander IP to a host computer in the same rack mount cabinet. GPU-Xpander IP provides the following features:
• Support for a 3D, workstation-class graphics controller such as NVidia Quadro FX 3800, 4800 or 5800
• PCoIP host adapter
• Connection to the host computer within the same rackmount cabinet
• 5 x GPU-Xpander IP units in 4U of rack mount space
